Lead Ambassador, Sarnia

Originally from Nigeria, Somto Ibe completed her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Ottawa.

Somto Ibe loves to describe herself as an avid volunteer. For her, volunteering is not only about giving back to the community but it’s also about connecting with the community. She’s particularly passionate about STEM because she believes that STEM combined with entrepreneurship is the key to the future.

Originally from Nigeria, Somto Ibe completed her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Ottawa. During her undergraduate studies, she interned with Suncor Energy in Fort McMurray, AB. Upon graduation, she joined Enbridge and has since gained experience across several sectors in the energy industry including natural gas distribution and storage. She is currently employed as an Integrity Engineer in the Renewable Power Generation business unit.

Throughout her educational and professional career, Somto has lived in several Canadian cities and has been actively involved in each one. While in university in Ottawa, she led the Women in Engineering Chapter at UOttawa as well as volunteered with the Go Eng Girls program. In Fort McMurray, she actively participated in the Girls Inc. Operation SMART. In Toronto, she was a mentor with Junior Achievement. In Sarnia, she led the Sarnia chapter for the Women@Enbridge Resource Group and was the lead program consultant for our Sarnia programming, coordinating READesign workshops.

She is currently an ambassador with BrainSTEM Alliance, helping coordinate our SETT up for SuccessREADesign and STEMtrepreneur initiatives in Sarnia as well as in Toronto.
