Job Description
BrainSTEM Alliance is looking to fill a roles for Ambassadors in the following areas:

  • GTA, ON
  • Waterloo, ON
  • Wood Buffalo Region, AB
  • Edmonton, AB
  • Calgary, AB
  • Cape Breton, NS / Halifax, NS

Other regions are also welcome to apply and support remotely Ambassadors are key members of the BrainSTEM Alliance organization, leveraging their experience, skills and passion as STEM professionals to empower future leaders in Science,
Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Ambassadors are passionate about giving back to their communities, and have novel and fun ideas on how we can engage young people in STEM!

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a STEM program in your community or region
  • Work with the BrainSTEM Alliance admin team to use your STEM experience and expertise to provide insights on innovative ways to design and deliver STEM programming
  • Work with the BrainSTEM Alliance admin team to engage with local community partners to implement programming
  • Leverage your professional network to engage other STEM professionals as volunteers in your community
  • Complete Ambassador onboarding training and criminal record check
  • Participate in workshops and sessions with other Ambassadors to develop your leadership and communication skills
  • Support with program reporting, summarizing the key activities of the programs you lead
  • Have fun and give back to the community!

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in a STEM discipline and/or professional experience in STEM, innovation or entrepreneurship
  • Interest and/or previous experience in STEM outreach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Project management skills; timeline, budget, resource management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Passion for STEM outreach and innovation, especially for underrepresented groups like girls and BIPOC youth/communities
  • Experience with graphic design tools like Canva and social media marketing an asset
  • Valid police record check, including a vulnerable sector check will be required

Time Commitment

Estimated monthly time commitment: 5-7 hours per month, though time commitment
may vary depending on the STEM programs being offered
