The Creative Building Makerspace is a part of our Full STEAM Ahead initiative and done in partnership with the Justin Slade Youth Foundation. The program is sponsored by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the United Way of Fort McMurray. Students meet once a month at the Dugout from January to June 2017 to try out different STEAM kits (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and to be creative, building new things.
January Session: Little Bits
In January, the students tried their hands with LittleBits electronics kits, making remote controlled cars, coloring machines, and some cool beats with the synth kit!
February: K’Nex
In February, the kids used different K’Nex kits making cool gadgets with gears and pulleys, solar and wind power!
March: Robotics
In March, students built and programmed their own robots with Lego Mindstorms and Makeblock robots.
April-June: 3D Printer
From April to June, we built our own 3D printer using the Prusa i3 MK2 printer kit. Let the 3D printing begin!
Looking forward to more creative fun next year!!
