On June 15th, 2019, BrainSTEM Alliance hosted its first STEAM Tea Party at the Oil Sands Discover Centre thanks to sponsorship from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The event allowed for community members of all ages to come out and learn about food science and engineering in a fun tea party setting!

On April 27th and 28th, 2019, BrainSTEM Alliance partnered with Youth Computing and the Wood Buffalo Regional Innovation Network to host the 2nd annual Community Code Day. This 2 day technology conference and hackathon invited community members from across Wood Buffalo to come together at Keyano College to learn about technology and it’s applications…

On March 14th, 2019, One of our Ambassadors Shefaza, one of our leads for the EnviroSTEM program, participated in the Waterloo Public Library March Messtival event. This event is all about celebrating science and art in a very messy way!

February has been nationally recognized as Black History Month in Canada since 1995; when a motion put forward by Honorable Jean Augustine was unanimously passed in the House of Commons. BrainSTEM Alliance partnered with Rehoboth Alliance for the first time to bring STEM activities to the youth of the Fort McMurray Afro-Canadian community.

For the month of February, BrainSTEM Calgary partnered with Big Brothers Big Sister Calgary (BBBS) on a frigid (-24°C) Saturday morning for the monthly Big Sisters Little Sisters activity themed: BIG STEM NIGHT.
